Air Conditioner and Heat Pump Tune-Up
When we come out to tune-up your air conditioner or heat pump we want you to know EXACTLY what our NATE certified technicians are doing. Below is a list of items that our trained technicians will look for and inspect to make sure your unit is functioning efficiently and safely.
- Calibrate Thermostat – Improper calibration can lead to a system providing the wrong amount of heating or cooling desired. This, in turn, can lead to higher utility bills and inadequate home comfort.
- Check Electrical Connections – Loose connections can cause components to malfunction and possibly fail due to improper voltage. Also, connections that are not secure could cause a sparking within the unit and jeopardize overall safety.
- Check Condensing Unit is Level – The unit was designed to run on a level surface. A condenser that is unlevel can cause issues when the unit is running.
- Check Integrity of Fins on Unit – A technician will inspect the fins to make sure there is maximum airflow through the unit. This will extend the life of the condenser coil and allow the unit to run as efficiently as possible.
- Check and Clean Condenser Coil – Debris blocking airflow through the outdoor unit restricts the ability to remove warm air from the home.
- Check Voltage and Amperage of Motors – Improper voltage and amperage can cause parts to malfunction and lead to costly repairs.
- Check Blower Components – Making sure the blower is clear of dirt and debris helps the unit run as efficiently as possible. A clean blower wheel as allows the proper amount of airflow.
- Check Condensate Drain – A clogged drain can cause water damage to the furnace. It can also alter humidity levels in the home.
- Check Pressures for Proper Refrigerant Charge – Improper refrigerant charges can damage the compressor and cause a system to lose efficiency.
- Check all Safety Controls – Proper functioning safety controls are a must when protecting your system.
- Lubricate Blower & Motor – Proper lubrication of moving parts reduces friction and makes the unit itself run quieter. It will also extend the life of the blower by allowing it to run cooler.
- Lubricate Outside Fan Blade – Lubrication of the fan blade will allow the unit to run smoothly and efficiently.
- Check Temperature Drop – A technician will observe the temperature drop throughout the system to ensure that the system is cooling the home as the homeowner desires.
- Inspect and Clean Evaporator Coil - Debris obstructing the evaporator coil makes it difficult for the system to remove warm air from the home.
- Inspect Line Set – Making sure that both lines are clear of obstructions and leaks ensures the system is running as efficiently as possible.
- Inspect Filter – A dirty air filter can reduce the overall system efficiency and can make the unit work harder given the reduced air flow coming into the system.
- Wash Unit Exterior – A technician will wash and clean the exterior of the unit to remove dirt and buildup. Keeps the unit looking good and extends the life.
