Posted by Chad Peterman on Thursday, March 15, 2012

We are half way through the Indianapolis Flower & Patio Show at the Indiana State Fair Grounds and our Mitsubishi mini split heating and air system is stealing the show.  Hundreds of people have stopped by the Peterman booth to see what the unusual looking thing hanging on the wall is and how it is managing to keep them cool in the steamy pavilion.  People are shocked by what they can do with this particular unit and the problems that it can solve.  Everyone it seems has either that room over the garage that they can never keep the right temperature or a sun porch that they would like to use more often.  The Mitsubishi heat pump system and air conditioning systems both look to solve these issues.

HSPF: A Factor to Consider When Buying a Heat Pump

Posted by Chad Peterman on Friday, January 6, 2012

Many residents in Indiana use a heat pump to provide both heating and cooling for their homes. This is a great option because heat pumps are great for mild climates and use a lot less energy that a separate furnace and air conditioning system. According to the United States Department of Energy, a heat pump can produce several times the amount of energy they consume.

Heat pumps can save a homeowner a tremendous amount of money on home utility bills. The reason for this is that it uses electrical energy to produce heat. In the summer, when it is hot outside, the heat pump pulls heat out of the home to make it cooler and moves it outside. In the winter, when it is cold outside, the heat pump works the opposite way by absorbing heat from outside and bringing it inside the home for heat. During the winter, this system works only when the temperature is above 30 degrees Fahrenheit. When the temperature drops, a secondary source of heat will come on to heat the home. This can be a heat pack in an indoor fan coil or a gas furnace. Matching a heat pump with a gas furnace is the most efficient way to heat and cool your home.
