4 Tips to Prep Air Conditioning Unit for Warmer Weather in Indy

As warmer weather approaches, it is wise to get you ac system ready for the cooling season here in Indianapolis.  Even though you may have already turned on your air conditioning unit, given the unseasonably warm temperatures in late March and early April, it is not too late to act and have your air conditioning system running at peak performance.  These four tips will have you taking a step in the right direction when it comes to avoiding a HVAC repair this summer.

1.       Check your air conditioning filter – It is important to make sure your filter is clear of dirt and debris before the cooling season.  Even though your filter is located near the furnace, it is still an integral part of your cooling system.  The air in your home that is cooled by the air conditioner is distributed throughout the home via the duct system that is connected to your furnace.  Because of this, the cool air is also filtered by the same filter that filters the air during heating season.  If you live in Indianapolis or the surrounding area, make sure you have a clean filter to start this cooling season in order to maximize efficiency and avoid stress on your HVAC system.
